  • Mission Statement - This year will be uncharted territory for all of us as we navigate teaching and learning online.  With that said, I will do my best every day to teach you and will expect you to succeed in my class.  With effort and dedication, I can help increase your knowledge of World History and I can also help you develop your skills that will help through-out your education.  With that said, I will always treat everyone fairly and with respect and I will try my hardest to see that you succeed.  I will also be available if additional help is needed.  If you need to reach me, my email address is brian.kingman@puhsd.org  I am not here to teach you what to think, I am here to teach you how to think.

Course Description - This course is going to be designed so that it will work for both in-class and distance learning in the hope that we will meet in person at some time in the near future.  This is a two-semester college-prep course and graduation requirement that provides an introductory survey of important historical concepts and how they have contributed to the world we live in today.  Together, we will examine the theme of Modernity by studying important events and figures through both primary and secondary sources as guided by the California State Standards and the Common Core standards.  The units of study in the first semester will consist of the developments of modern political thought, industrial expansion, and imperialism.  The second semester units focus on events in the 20th century such as WWI, the global Great Depression, WWII, the Cold War, and Globalization.
